Free exercise - 5 Steps To Reach Your Goals

March is all about getting yourself from thinking into action. Because action is the only thing that will give you the results you are after!



Ok guys. This is a simple, but a good one. Deciding on your goals is one thing, but actually getting there is another. In coaching we use multiple tools that work on different level of the brain. This tool here is very concrete and talks mostly to our ”smart, thinking brain” (cerebral cortex). The idea behind this is to get you out of your to do list mode and start creating paths to the results you need to see.

Step by step exersices: STEP 1. First you have had to do a little bit of dreaming, planning and digging into your desires. Because to start with we need some sort of a goal. Decide on a goal. Answer a simple question: What do you want to achieve. It maybe a better job, higher income, a new apartment, piece of mind etc.

STEP 2. Secondly you want to double check if you are really committed to this. What will achieving this goal give you? What is the emotion you get when you imagine that you have reached this? Do you really hate your current job? Are you certain you would be happier in another house? For wha do you need this money? Are you willing to let go of things that disturb and excite you?

STEP 3. Ok. If you are sure that you are committed to this let yourself go to the time where this has become true. What do you see? What did getting here require from you? Your spouse? Time, money, resources? Do a brain dump and write all of this down and combine these into action steps for yourself. The smaller, the better! Here is some extra questions to guide you forward: What do have do to achieve this goal of yours? What do you have to know? Is there special skills involved? Do you know a person who has done this? What can you learn from her?

STEP 4. Look at your extensive list of steps and start formulating a timeline. When and what. Start from your goal and work your way to present moment with the steps. When will you start?
